Workplace Health and Safety Policy
Warringah Council is committed to the health and safety of all workers. This includes all staff employed by Warringah Council, contractors, labour hire, agency personnel, volunteers and visitors to the workplace, and the effective rehabilitation of injured staff.
The General Manager shall ensure that Warringah Council accepts its moral and legal responsibilities to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all workers and visitors to the workplace.
This policy provides all Warringah Council workers with the authority to take actions required to ensure health, safety, and welfare at work.
The General Manager, Deputy General Managers, Group Managers, Managers and workers shall be held accountable for fulfilling their workplace health and safety responsibilities.
Warringah Council is committed to:
- Complying with all relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation and industry standards
- The risk management process and ensuring consistency with the nature of workplace activities and scale of WHS risks
- Establishing measurable objectives and targets for WHS to ensure continuous improvement aimed at elimination of work related illness and injury
- The provision of appropriate WHS training for all employees
- The consultation process to ensure all workers are included in the decision-making processes impacting on workplace health and safety
- The dissemination of WHS information to all workers and visitors to the workplace
- The effective implementation of the WHS Policy
- Integrating the management of Workplace Health and Safety into Council's Management Plan and Operational Plans
- The provision of adequate resources and management systems to monitor, control and take action on workplace health and safety issues
- The ongoing development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Council’s management of workplace health and safety
