Strategic & Development Services
The Strategic & Development Division consists of the following teams:
Strategic Planning
This area develops Councils strategies, Plans of Management and internal policies and procedures. It also covers the preparation of strategic planning advice, plans and documents in relation to the use and development of land in Warringah. This includes the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the Warringah Local Environmental Plan (LEP) and other land use planning strategies such as Section 94 Developer Contributions.
Development Assessment & Compliance
Within this area, our Development Assessments team manages and assesses all Development Applications lodged with Council. Through this service Council ensures that all new developments comply with the relevant environmental planning and building standards and regulations.
Our Compliance team enforces Council policies and regulations, as well as State laws. This includes enforcing parking regulations, building regulations, heavy responding to pollution incidents and addressing companion animal complaints. This area also monitors and investigates complaints and unlawful work and activities related to air, water and noise pollution, Health inspections and Food Safety.
Governance
The Governance team provides council and executive support and is the custodian of Council's governance processes. This team manages the core governance functions of Council to ensure that all stakeholders have confidence in and can rely upon the business of Council being undertaken in a professional and transparent manner. It also provides governance advice and administrative support to the Elected Council, its Strategic Reference Groups and the Executive Management Team.
