The Eastern Water Dragon (Physignathus lesuerii) is dark to light brown with a creamish belly. Mature males have a red-orange chest. They have crest or spines along the back which are pronounced on the neck. They feed on invertebrates, reptiles, frogs and a variety of fruit. This lizard is seen around creeks, watercourses and backyard ponds and is often seen and heard plopping into water from its basking position.
