Weekly message from the Mayor
This week I had the tremendous honour of celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens by attending a wonderful performance of "Dickens Women" by world acclaimed actor, Miriam Margolyes.
Miriam of course wrote the play with Sonia Fraser and it's a real credit to
Glen Street Theatre and all the staff
and supporters that Miriam chose this
venue to begin the play's Australian tour.
Dickens Women tells the real life story of one of history's most celebrated authors while bringing to life many of his most memorable female characters.
With two more performances of Dickens Women over the weekend – one on Saturday February 11 and another on Sunday February 12, I encourage you all to get along and see the play.
A healthy democracy requires a strong arts community and Council is immensely proud of the cultural icon that is Glen Street Theatre.
Visit the website to see what other exciting performances are planned for the 2012 season.
There are now three new playgrounds for kids and their carers to take advantage of in Warringah – Tyagarah Reserve, Cromer, Ambleside Reserve, Wheeler Heights and Parr Reserve, Narraweena.
I'm really excited to see Council deliver these terrific facilities for the families of Warringah and I'd like to congratulate the staff who worked so hard to make them as interesting and engaging as possible.
I'm confident that kids and carers alike will give them a big thumbs up!
Finally this week, on behalf of the Warringah community, I would like to wish our Deputy Mayor, Councillor Julie Sutton a Happy 75th Birthday for Tuesday February 14.
She'll be celebrating this milestone by representing her beloved community at our Council Meeting on the night.
