Northern Beaches Art Prize (non-acquisitive) ENTRIES OPEN

The Northern Beaches Art Prize (formerly Warringah Art Prize) began in 1955 and is the Northern Beaches' most prestigious art competition, with $27,000 to be awarded (non-acquisitive).

The 2017 Northern Beaches Art Prize exhibition will be displayed at the Creative Space in North Curl Curl (105 Abbott Rd) across two exhibitions.

General and Small Sculpture
11 August – 20 August

Youth and Waste-to-Art
25 August – 3 September

 

Categories

General: Two dimensional original paintings or drawings in any medium, printmaking, collage and photography. Open to artists 19 years and over.

Small Sculpture sponsored by Dee Why RSL Club: Freestanding, non-site specific, three-dimensional object. Open to artists 19 years and over.

Waste to Art: Original works of art, sculpture, clothing, collage, jewellery. Artworks must be made from reused or recycled materials. Open to artists 10 years and over.

Youth: Two dimensional original paintings or drawings in any medium, printmaking; collage; photography. Open to artists aged 10 to 14 years and 15 to 18 years.

Need assistance with your online entry?
Come to our drop-in help session!

When: 10am - 2pm Thursday 22 June
Where: Council Chambers, Civic Centre, 725 Pittwater Road, Dee Why
Who is this for: Open to anyone who requires assistance with the online entry process. This includes uploading your images and inputting your information.

What to bring:
1) Image of your artwork - either on UBS, disc, in your camera (with the lead to connect to USB drive on computer) OR your artwork to be photographed.
2) Come prepared with your artwork details - Title, measurements/weight, medium etc.
3) Credit card details for entry fee (and concession card if applicable)

No need to RSVP, just turn up between 10-2, and remember to read the terms and conditions prior.

 

Judges information
There will be three judges selecting the award winners in all four categories, as follows:

Kon Gouriotis OAM has held leadership roles in the Visual Arts for the past 20 years. He was Director at the Australian Centre for Photography; Director, Visual Arts, the Australian Council for the Arts; Director of the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre; and is currently Editor of the Artist Profile Magazine, a national journal dedicated to visual artists behind the art.
Stella Downer is a very well respected art dealer, consultant and valuer. Stella has worked with leading contemporary galleries for over twenty-five years. Stella was the manager in Sydney of the well-known Roslyn Oxley 9 gallery, Macquarie Galleries and Australian Galleries before opening her own gallery in 2001.
Dr Therese Kenyon formerly Director of Manly Art Gallery & Museum for over 10 years has now returned to the Northern Beaches on the board of Directors at Eramboo Artist Environment, Terry Hills. Therese has exhibited and curated many exhibitions with numerous regional and nationally known artists, and is a practicing artist herself.
