The short film Monkey on My Back won the four top awards at the 2011 24/7 Youth Film Festival in September, hosted by the four SHOROC councils Warringah, Pittwater, Mosman and Manly.

Over 450 people attended the Awards night to watch the 10 finalists and vote for their favourite film.

Pat Feary and Rhys Bennett, who have entered 24/7 for the last nine years, came up trumps winning: Best Film, Best Script and Best Actor, as well as the Audience Choice Award.

Special guest Peter Phelps hosted the evening.

Following a series of skills workshops the contestants, who were all between the ages of 12 and 24, were given a list of items, phrases, locations and themes that had to appear in the film. The film was to be no longer than seven minutes and they had just 24 hours to make it in.

28 films were entered in the competition.
