Pool Hire
The Warringah Aquatic Centre (WAC) has been proudly owned and managed by Warringah Council since its opening in November 1979. It is located in a quiet forested location in Frenchs Forest on the northen beaches.
Filming
The outdoor area provides an attractive grassed area that surrounds the 25m and toddlers' pool, playground and barbecue. Indoors there is a 50m heated pool with attached diving pool. The diving pool is 4m deep while 50m pool ranges in depth from 1.2m - 3m. The indoor pools are equipped with square underwater viewing windows.
The pool decks are wide providing easy access for film equipment. The centre has high ceilings and good natural light.
The car park caters for over 400 cars, making it convenient for film crews with large numbers of vehicles. We also have a large, secure, designated parking area for location vehicles with easy access to the pool area.
Exclusive use of the facility for filming is available seven days a week.
The WAC has featured in television commercials both here and abroad, including a soft drink ad for Japan starring Ian Thorpe. We've been seen on screens in countries as diverse as Korea and India, and for products from soap to rum.
It has also been used for photo shoots for Olympians including Haley Lewis, Susie O'Neill, Claudia Poll, Kieran Perkins, Libby Trickett and Leisel Jones.
Our cooperative and experienced staff make filming at the facility the preferred location for many directors, producers and cameramen.
Sports and other activities
Before the opening of the Homebush Aquatic Centre, the Warringah Aquatic Centre hosted the NSW and Australian Swimming Titles and the 1992 Olympic Trials.
The Centre has also been a training venue for State synchronised swimming, the ITU World Cup and underwater hockey.
